Photography courses across Sussex. Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to sharpen your photography skills, I have a course that will suit your technical needs and stretch your creativity.
I am a firm believer that photography is both an incredible way to respond to the world as well as an open doorway to creativity! My photography courses across Sussex, are running in Brighton, Uckfield, Crowborough, and Worthing. As well as Online. Engaging in photography and visual language helps with cognitive development, problem-solving skills, and emotional intelligence. As individuals grow older, art continues to play a vital role in supporting our mental health. Creating and appreciating art have been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. It allows individuals to process and express their emotions in a healthy way, while also fostering a sense of purpose and accomplishment. Photography is a wonderful way to indulge in the power of art. Learn how to see and how the camera sees and take pleasure from the all that is visual.

AAL Brighton Creative Photography for All : New Adventures in Photography
Starting Thursday 11th September 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Portslade College Mile Oak.
By the end of this course, students will be able to identify, analyze, and create photographs in response to weekly themes, while developing their unique photographic style
– Analyze characteristics of major photography genres
– Execute technical skills specific to each weekly theme.
– Develop a cohesive portfolio
– Articulate their artistic choices and creative vision
Develop camera settings and post-processing techniques relevant to different themes explored each week. Beginner photographers will be given full technical support and encouraged to slowly get to grips with their cameras functionality by starting with the basics. Returning and more confident students will be challenges further with their technical skills as each theme requires.
AAL Brighton Creative Photo Editing Part 1
Starting Friday 12th September 1:00pm to 3:00pm at Portslade College Mile Oak.
This creative photo editing course will introduce you to the basics of photo editing using a freely available online program called Photopea. This program is remarkably similar to Photoshop and Affinity, so all skills can be transferred! Or, of course you could simply continue to use Photopea.
You will learn the power of layers and masking, some basic adjustments as well how to save your files. You will also be taught how to undo mistakes and protect original photos so you can gain confidence playing with the program without fear of losing any photos!
This course will be a combination of demonstration, presentation and hands on activity to ensure you leave the course with a lot more editing confidence, and the ability to get the very best out of your photographs.
Worthing Creative Photography at the Heene Community Center
New Adventures in Photography. Starting Friday 12th September 10:30pm to 12:30pm at Portslade College Mile Oak.
10 week course cost £130.00
This course is suitable for more advanced photographers who are confident with the use of their camera functions but are wanting to delve deeper into the creative potential of photography.
What you will learn.
We will undertake 5 assignments, all designed to test and improve your camera skills, including the joy of aspect ratios. But principally designed to stretch and challenge your creativity and to broaden and improve your visual language.
By having two weeks for each assignment it will give an opportunity for an image review half way through and to get feedback on techniques and direction for the following week!
Each 2 hour session is divided into two segments. The first seeks to inspire and delves into the creative and technical aspects of the work of various photographers. The second segment is a group review of students work, seeking ways for the work to be developed and encourage creative and critical thinking.
The group boasts some very creative photographers, all of whom are very welcoming and supporting of newcomers.
Spaces are very limited on this course but I am happy to expand provision if demand is high enough.

Uckfield Creative Photography at the Luxford Center.
Finding You Photographic Voice .Starting Tuesday 16th September 6.30pm to 8.30pm Luxford Centre Uckfield
9 week course cost £120.00
This course is suitable for both beginner and more advanced photographers who are confident with the use of their camera functions but are wanting to delve deeper into the creative potential of photography.
What makes you stand out from the crowd as a photographer? What stories do your photographs have to tell? How do you get more creative as a photographer?
By the end of this course, By the end of this lesson, students will be able to analyze their photographic influences, understand the elements that contribute to a personal style, and begin to create a body of work reflecting their unique photographic voice.

Monday On-line Creative Photography
New Narrative Photography. Starting Monday 8th September 6.30pm to 8.30pm Online
10 week course cost £130.00
This course is suitable for more advanced photographers who are confident with the use of their camera functions but are wanting to delve deeper into the creative potential of photography.
This Monday evening class is for experienced photographers and a great opportunity to re engage with photography for previous students that have attended my courses over the years. A great way to meet like mind as well as expand your photographic creativity, develop personal projects and get guidance on achieving personal goals. These online session are split into two parts. The first where the course project is introduced, and photographers who have made similar projects are researched and discussed. The second part of each session is a peer to peer review where student images are discussed and suggestions made for development of the projects.
What you will learn
-By the end of this course, you will be able to create a cohesive photographic series that demonstrates their unique artistic voice while telling a compelling visual narrative.
-You will master composition techniques, lighting, and post-processing methods that support your narrative vision.
-You will develop your ability to analyze and critique narrative photography, and understand how visual elements contribute to storytelling.

The Creative Photographer
I am currently running one online creative photography class on Wednesday evenings. This course is designed for keen photographers who feel confident with their cameras but want to learn more about the art of photography. A great way to meet like mind as well as expand your photographic creativity.
What you will learn.
– By the end of the course, you will be able to identify and develop their unique photographic style through creative experimentation and critical analysis.
-You will make creative photographs in response to a series of bi weekly projects. Each assignment will be reviewed each week so you can elevate your work further.
– You will learn from the study of photographers work, from your peers as well as deep dives into some creative techniques.
The courses are informal and focus on fun and creativity. They take place via google meets and use a secure folio site where students can share images as well as access all the resources for the course.
